A Joyful Heart
by Paul Black

I want to do something that’s a little out of the ordinary for this week’s devotional.

Cheryl shared this “Youtube” video yesterday that has now gone viral with over 120,000,000 views. That’s right, 120,000,000. Instead of spoiling it, just watch and enjoy. (Don’t read anymore till you watch the following clip)

What’s really cool is that this hilarious mom of two has now taken the media by storm; she is being interviewed by news outlets all over the world. Better still is that she is a Christian and is a worship leader who lives in Texas. Hear her explain what’s been happening and share a wonderful exhortation to other Christian artists. You can check it out on my “Paul Black” Facebook page.

As I was watching this video, two verses came to mind. The first is Proverbs 17:22 (NASB) “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.”

The second was this… Psalm 2:1-6 (NASB) “Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, 3 ‘Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!’ 4He who sits in the heavens laughs, the Lord scoffs at them. 5Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury, saying, 6 ‘But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.’”

It’s great to know that the Lord is never concerned about His enemies. In fact, He laughs. Perhaps if we really knew our God the way He desires us too, we would not be so uptight about the situations we find ourselves in but we could spend more time enjoying the journey; after all, the “Kingdom of heaven is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”…Romans 14:17
