God never has idle time. He never has a day where He wonders what to do on any given day. He is always working according to His plan. His plan is for everything to be consumed in Christ both now and in the future; 1 Corinthians 15:28
When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.
God’s plan is for everything to be ultimately consumed in Christ. Thus, everything in creation is moving toward that end. It began in the garden that way and all history will end that way.
That’s why all followers of Jesus get a “head start” by surrendering completely to Christ.
This is also the intent of the Apostle Paul’s message to the philosophers on Marz Hill in Athens as recorded in the book of Acts 17.
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
The term “in Christ” is written over 200 times in the New Testament. Thus the impact of surrendering to Jesus is the fact that Jesus is not just another god or idol that we worship in an outside manner. When we surrender to Him, we are placed “in Christ” and He takes residence in us by His Spirit thus completing the purpose from the beginning for which we were created, union with Him.
We read this in 2 Corinthians 5:17;
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new
We will be in Him and consumed in Him for all of eternity. He is continually working to that end. Everything that happens in our lives is an opportunity to grow closer to Him by surrendering to Him in every circumstance. This thought is supported in Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians in his first letter 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Jesus told His followers this in John 14:16-17
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,[a] to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be[b] in you.
And John 16:7
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
This is continually the purpose of God for followers of His. Oneness and unity with Him.
The glory of the Lord does not exist on the outside but dwells within us by His presence. That truth has not been emphasized enough in the teachings of the modern church. Followers worship Jesus as though He is only in Heaven and not dwelling in his spirit. This is the emphasis of Colossians 1:27
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
I expect that the remnant will begin to move in this truth to display the glory of God for people to either accept or reject. This remnant will have a full understanding and confidence of them being in Christ and Christ being fully in them. When that takes place, the full revealing of mature sons of God will take place and the final great harvest will take place according to Matthew 24. The Lord is continually working to bring this to pass. 2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
The Lord desires for all of creation to be in Him, that’s why He never sleeps or slumbers. The best is yet to come
