The week of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, the scriptures tell an interesting story as read in John 12:20-26 (ESV)

Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks. 21 So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. 23 And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

I believe Jesus was prophesying of the harvest of the revealed “sons of God” at the end of the age. Those men and women who will walk and talk in a manner that is consistent with their Lord and Savior. The purpose and character of these individuals is described in the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God”.

Such was the man, Charlie Kirk. Regardless of your political persuasion, Charlie was a man that garnered much respect on both sides of the aisle. He never demonized his opposition but through wisdom and eloquence, presented truth through logic and common sense to 1000’s of college students that could not be denied. He was not an educated man as he dropped out of college. Charlie was well read and wise beyond his years that I believe God was using to bring awakening to Gen-Z with plain truth. In other words, he brought peace through discussion, much the way His own confessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ did.

Those who hate freedom and operate in their own political agenda hate people like Charlie and Jesus and will endeavor to silence them at all costs. Satan will look for individuals he can use as his operatives to carry out his wicked schemes to try to silence the truth. Here’s the deal, the truth is not political! It is simply the truth. It embodies the ideals of a person, Jesus who declared that He alone was the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).

I heard Charlie say in an interview recently that he wanted to be remembered for

“his courageous faith in God!”

Because of Jesus’ resurrection, Charlie did not taste death. He immediately was in the presence of the Lord according to 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 (ESV)

So, we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

I also heard Charlie say

“I am more interested in what God wants from me instead of I want from God”

So, my beloved, what does God desire of you? Let us not let either Jesus’ or Charlie’s death be in vain. Let Holy Spirit blow upon the dead bones of this generation to bring forth a mighty army for God’s glory (Ezekiel 37:1-4). As in the lyrics of The Battle Hymn of the Republic, His truth is marching on”. It cannot be stopped.

My encouragement to the rest of us. Let’s get off the fence. Become white hot for the truth but also love others greatly, especially those you would consider your political opposition. But in your effort to love, don’t compromise the truth to make peace. Instead, bring peace through your actions and your words. As a church, we must take responsibility for the present condition of our culture and rid out the evil that would silence the truth.

I believe Charlie is the seed that has fallen into the ground that will bring forth a harvest of sons of God into the world which will then bring in the greatest spiritual awakening that the world has ever seen. Let’s pray it is so.

I close with words of Jesus from Matthew 16:25

For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

If God can do this with one man, what could He do with a church that is emboldened to speak the truth and love as He did.
