The glorified Jesus defined Himself this way to the Apostle John in Revelation 1:8,

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Jesus adds to this definition at the end of the book of Revelation 22:12-13,

“Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

Jesus is before time from eternity past. He exists outside of time and space. The Apostle John gives further revelation of this truth in the beginning of his gospel writing this by inspiration by Holy Spirit, John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John also wrote that Jesus was crucified before the foundation on the world in Revelation 13:7-8,

And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.

 And this in John 1:14,

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus came from outside time and space into time and space to reveal the love and glory of the Father to us. When you read all these verses concerning Jesus and time, you realize that God is not bound by any time or circumstance. They are submissive to Him. This is seen in the resurrection of His close friend Lazarus in John 11. His sisters, Mary and Martha seemed to try to emotionally manipulate Jesus saying, “the one whom You love is sick’. But Jesus deliberately stayed longer and did not rush to heal His friend. Why? Because there was a greater purpose in what was about to take place. Jesus never operated in the pressure of the moment. He always operated according to the will and timing of the Father. He knew what the Father wanted, and He was faithful to fulfill it. Because of this, time was inconsequential.

Even in death, Jesus was not a victim of bad timing; He was right on time.

After the death and burial of Jesus, everything appeared to be lost for the disciples. It appeared that the three and a half years of being with Jesus had been a waste. They immediately returned to what they knew best, fishing. Even the religious leaders tried to stop the plan of God by having Pilate seal the tomb and post an armed guard. But God was right on time. Nothing could stop what was coming then and nothing can stop what’s coming now.

In His final instruction to the disciples in Acts 1:7

He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.

The Apostle Paul wrote this in Galatians 4:4

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

The “fullness of time” means God’s timing is always right on time. He’s never early or late.

The encouragement for us is this. We are never at the mercy of bad timing or circumstances in our lives. God has us! Take a deep breath and relax, we can trust in Him. His timing is as perfect for us as it was for His son.

Jesus is the same, yesterday and forever. Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He is not subject to time.

In this new era, we’re going to have to listen to the whisper of Holy Spirit to walk in complete consecration to and timing of the Father. We must never allow the pressure of a situation to force us into bad timing. If we allow the urgency time or need to dictate to us how we live, we will live in constant worry and anxiety which will lead to burnout and exhaustion. We will continually sabotage the real purposes of God with fleshly responses then learning and waiting for His perfect timing.

In this sense, He invites us to live and walk in the Spirit which is out of the continuum of time and space. It does not bow to the urgency of the moment but only operates in obedience through intimacy with Holy Spirit.

In the church age, religiousness told us to work “for” God. In this new era of the Spirit, He will teach us how to walk and work “with” Holy Spirit. You can’t stop what’s coming because what is coming has already been established before time began. God’s timing is perfect. Always!
